A lot of drivers focus on throttle and angle, but steering input is what holds everything together.
Start with your hands at 9 and 3, and keep your arms relaxed with a slight bend in your elbows. You don’t want to be stiff or locked up.
When you initiate the drift, let the wheel move naturally through your hands as the car counter steers. The front wheels will usually correct themselves, your job is to guide that movement, not fight it.
If you’re gripping the wheel too tightly, your corrections will be slow and exaggerated. And if you’re crossing your arms or constantly shuffling your hands, you’re probably reacting instead of anticipating.
Clean steering makes big angle look effortless.
